Quality education is vitally important to any community, and Okmulgee County is no exception. We have nine public school districts and one private school in Okmulgee County, as well as Green Country Technology Center and OSUIT.

Okmulgee Public Schools boasts a state of the art STEM Lab at Dunbar Campus (5th-7th) to enhance the advancement of science, technology, engineering and math studies. The Okmulgee High School ACE program is an exciting and innovative contemporary learning environment. It is one of the first personalized learning programs in Oklahoma. A personalized learning program, students acquire the learning and skills that are needed in today’s rapidly changing world and helps students find solutions to problems independently. Personalized learning has emerged as perhaps the most promising innovation in education.

For those students seeking vocational programs, the Green Country Technology Center has been serving Okmulgee county high school students (as well as adult students) for over 20 years.   Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology is available for those that wish to pursue associates or bachelor’s degrees. The College of Muscogee Nation, while primarily focused on members of a Native American tribe, also offers programs to non-tribal students.

Green Country Technology Center (GCTC)

 

GCTC in Okmulgee serves the vocational training needs within our community and in conjunction with our manufacturing and employment base.   They have been serving high school and adult students from Okmulgee County for over 30 years and won the 2019 “Best in the World” Contest for Best Vocational School in 2019.
 
Green Country Technology Center is one of 29 technology center districts in Oklahoma which are accredited by the Department of Career and Technology Education. Full-time educational programs include Licensed Practical Nursing, Health Careers Certification, Medical Assisting, Construction Trades, CNC Manufacturing, Welding, Programming and Video Game Development, Cosmetology and HVAC.

 

GCTC offers a 28-day Commercial Driver's License course and is a DPS Driver License Exam site (both written and drive test).
 
GCTC also offers adult education training in short-term classes offered day and night as well as in our FLEX lab.  Customized industry training is available onsite or on our campus. A variety of safety, computer and health classes can be customized for the needs of all businesses and industry clients.   

 

Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSUIT)


OSUIT is a recognized leader in applied technology education and is known for world-class teaching facilities, partnerships with industry and a nearly 90% placement rate. OSUIT offers 36 degree programs that are consistent with emerging market trends and prepare students to fill a qualified industry profession. OSUIT partners with global corporations to develop academic coursework and practical training environments using industry-caliber equipment to create a seamless classroom to career transition.

For the fifth time, OSUIT has ranked in the top 30 Regional Colleges West region for the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings for 2020. They are also ranked in the top 10 Best Colleges for Veterans, holding the highest military graduation rate of 75% and the highest military retention rate of 97% among all career and technical colleges ranked.    
 
Also important to note is that OSUIT 2017 graduates had the lightest debt loads. In fact, OSUIT was recently identified as being the most affordable school in Oklahoma for a bachelor’s degree.  The top ranking out of 20 Oklahoma schools, as measured by Affordable Schools, highlights that OSUIT is a top-value, high-rated college at an affordable price.

College of the Muscogee Nation (CMN)

 

The College of the Muscogee Nation is dedicated to helping students achieve their academic and career goals by providing a quality learning environment sensitive to their rich tribal culture, language and history. Students, community, and Muscogee (Creek) people are the true foundation for every class taught, every degree offered and every service provided at the college. CMN maintains a tribal college (also open to the public) that embraces excellence.
