When people hear "economic development" they often picture one office doing it all. Building a thriving community isn't a solo act—it’s a coordinated effort across multiple teams, each with their own lane and focus for the "Okmulgee Superhighway".

  • Economic Development Organization (EDO): The OADC leads efforts to grow skilled based jobs and investment. Works on industrial recruitment, existing manufacturing expansions, site development, workforce strategy, and community marketing.

  • Chamber of Commerce: The Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce advocates for existing commercial/retail businesses. Hosts networking, promotes shopping local, connects businesses to resources, and amplifies their voice to policymakers. They will also be the front door for new retail business.

  • Main Street Program: Okmulgee Main Street, one of the original certified Main Streets in Oklahoma, is dedicated to revitalizing and preserving the historic downtown area. Organizes downtown events, supports small business growth, preserves historic charm, and builds a sense of place. They also advocate for existing commercial/retail businesses with a special focus on the downtown area.

  • City Hall / Local Government: The City of Okmulgee oversees infrastructure, zoning, regulations, and public services such as public safety, parks, water, trash service. Implements long-term planning, invests in community needs, and approves development.

  • Workforce & Education Partners: This includes Green Country Technology Center, OSUIT, local school districts and other training/service providers like Workforce Oklahoma and WorkReady Okmulgee. These partners fuel the workforce pipeline—aligning education with local job needs and helping residents access skills and opportunity.

Each of the organizations play a vital role in shaping our community. While each may have their own unique perspectives, mission and purpose, projects and priorities, what they all do share is being intentional in creating a dynamic and prosperous environment for Okmulgee.

We all believe that Okmulgee, with all of its ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses, challenges and issues, is aligned for great potential and growth. We all have work to do but we're all in.

When everyone, including citizens, align on purpose, the whole community can move forward.
